New Zealand-based Cassius® releases an innovative new iPhone application that allows you to try on the brand’s entire eyewear collection with the swipe of a finger. By utilizing the iPhone’s built-in front camera, you can browse the current range and try the frames directly on to your face. Tap a button to switch to the back camera, and interact with another person.

Straight forward, simple browsing. For even further ease of use, snap and save a portrait directly on to your personal device. Then using the iPhone’s Retina display screen, scroll through the brand’s optical and sunglass collection to find the frame that best suits you. Simple.

Who is Rianti Cartwright and what do you do?

Hi y’all, I’m Rianti! I am a presenter, actress and a business owner and I’m from Indonesia.

Describe a typical and average day in your life

A typical and average day in my life…hmmm. It starts at 6 AM, I got to get up to get ready for Trans TV, an Indonesian national television station in South Jakarta. I do a daily show called ‘D’Ring’ and that is broadcasted live at 8:30AM until 10AM. After the show I have to do some duty management at my spa ‘Bale Bale Cikajang’, a spa only for ladies! During the day at the spa I meet up with sponsors or journalists to do interviews. When the day is almost over I hang out with my husband and my friends!

What was the first job in your life and how do you look back to it?

The first step into what I do now was….I think I was 14 or 15 years old and I had a 5 second appearance in a videoclip. A friend of mine was a photographer and she asked me if I wanted to help out her friends who were artists. They formed a group called ‘Project Pop’. I was really nervous, I had no experience at all and I was young you know. In the end I was only on screen for about 2 seconds but it was a good experience. I think I earned something like 50.000 IDR, that’s what…about 3 euro’s right?! Haha! It was maybe the first time I got exposed to the entertainment industry and I learned a lot since that day. You know when you see models on tv or presenters you might think everybody can do that but it’s hard. I got to see how much is really involved to create a good show with the producers, directors, all the hassle on the set and you’re shooting maybe a whole day for finally something that last for just a few minutes. I still learn everyday.

What influenced you to do the hustle you do know?

Mostly the city life in Jakarta. It’s really tough to live out here. I’m originally from Bandung and it’s really quiet over there, it’s just different than Jakarta. Back then I was shy and I didn’t have the courage to try new things. Living in this city made me stronger and tougher. So it’s the city life over here that influenced me to do what I do now. And grinding so hard led one thing to another. When I was in University I got scouted to be a VJ, and after that it gave me the opportunity to be in movies and so on. Now I’m able to invest in other business like my spa because I won’t be in the entertainment industry forever.

What is your bond with GPB and how did that happen?

Well..haha..my connection with Green Paper Boys is through my husband Alfonso (Casalfonso). Alfonso is a friend of Paul and Punang so that’s why I have the pleasure to be acquainted with Green Paper Boys.

What can we expect from you this year?

You can expect my cafe to be running in 2012. I’m going to run my cafe with a friend from Germany. And I’m going to build my spa business and maybe some other business opportunities. And I’d like to start another movie and another soap opera.

Dutch artist Niels de Jong surprised us with a sneaker art piece and a SOLE mini sneaker. We love this type of expression and are very enthusiastic about it. Let’s introduce you to Niels and his motivation.

Niels de Jong (1982) lives and works in Berlin and is found most of the time in The Lunartik Studios of Matt Jones from lunartik.com. Niels has a background in various disciplines such as model making, urban design, sculptures, drawing and painting.

You will find his drawn or painted art pieces often portrayed as a group of colourful characters in a multitude, huddled together in a composition on the canvas. His work is constantly evolving and his characters are transforming continuously.

His love and fascination for art and sneakers have expressed in a series of sneaker art pieces and a multiple series of a project called SOLE, a series of mini sneaker sculptures.

”Sneakers have a beautiful history and have been an important part of our culture since the 70ties, as an artist I wanted to show that in my own contemporary perception. As the Green Paper Boys represent Saucony I had to make a combination art piece. Saucony has beautiful lines in its sneakers and I had to make sure these would pop out so I made ​​the sneaker come out of the canvas. I used my own style of characters with the GPB green and white to finish it off”’.

The SOLE mini sneaker is designed as a center foot, who comes as one sneaker, not a pair. It symbolizes the love for sneakers and the influence it has on our culture since the 70ties.

”In the time we live now, a lot of people increasingly have the need to be unique and to have things that someone else has not, like those pair of sneakers or that t-shirt which are only five of in the whole world”.

Niels started with the first series SOLE mini sneakers in three versions all currently available in limited edition in his webshop on www.nielsdejong.nu. More art of Niels de Jong can be found there!

I was hanging out with our friend Cas and we were driving downtown Jakarta. He introduced me to traditional Indonesian icecream called ‘Es Podeng’. Ingredients: sago pearls, bread, avocado and coconut milk. You can add jackfruit, chocolate sprinkles and roasted peanuts to it. One word: splendid.

Es Podeng is famous in Indonesia and you can find it on the streets, foodcourts or in restaurants. Try it.
